A brand new large-scale venue, Ironworks, is set to open in East London this October, promising to bring a vibrant music scene to the Royal Docks. Developed by event promoters LWE in collaboration with the “placemaking” organisation PROJEKT, Ironworks boasts a capacity of 7,000 and features a unique combination of an indoor warehouse space and an open-air terrace that overlooks the picturesque Thames River.

The venue, located at Thames Wharf, will kick off its debut with a limited series of electronic music events, with artists and lineups expected to be announced in the coming month. Ironworks stands on a historic industrial site, once the heart of the Thames Ironworks and shipbuilding yards, which adds to its distinctive character.

According to the organisers, Ironworks has been meticulously designed with state-of-the-art sound, lighting, and visual production, all tailored to complement the venue’s existing architecture and industrial ambience. In addition to the music events, the Museum of Youth Culture is set to present an installation that will delve into the rich history of London’s warehouse culture, adding another layer of cultural engagement to the venue.

Beyond music, the Thames Wharf site aims to foster community interactions with a variety of public events, including markets, outdoor cinema screenings, wellness sessions, and a diverse selection of street food offerings. Organisers are also committed to creating initiatives such as ticket access for residents and opportunities for independent traders.
