Los Angeles-based electronic artist Lauren Mia has made a spectacular Armada Music debut with her mesmerising melodic techno single ‘Halcyon’ via Armada Electronic Elements, released on 29 November.
Lauren has had a whirlwind career since her emergence in 2016, with this single being testament to her artistic evolution and valour. With the track, she channels the gripping essence of 90s raves, while still brilliantly holding space for a contemporary sound.
She was particularly inspired by the resurgence of 90s rave soundscapes during her time in Berlin this year. Lauren shares; “During that era, raw synthesis and straightforward compositions emphasised the journey and experience of sound. I found it fascinating to hear these old-school trends resurfacing in the clubs and resonating with younger generations, which motivated me to infuse my own perspective into this revival. As a female electronic music producer and DJ, I aim to celebrate and reimagine the timeless spirit of that vibrant musical landscape with ‘Halcyon‘.”
Over the last few months, Lauren has been making waves with a slew of trailblazing releases. She made her debut on Insomniac Records with her single ‘Freedom’, released her EP Spectral Reverie, and crafted striking remixes for the likes of Moritz Hofbauer’s ‘Oneironaut’ on Boris Brejcha’s imprint Fckng Serious. All of this follows the momentous release of her 2023 debut album RE:BIRTH, and the remix compilation which featured the likes of Alfa Romero, Aalson and SKALA.
‘Halcyon’ serves as a tantalising teaser for her imprint of the same name, which will launch next year. 2024 has seen Lauren continue to break new ground, with performances at some of the most prestigious festivals and venues in the world, including Burning Man, Tomorrowland, ADE and Steelyard to name a few. With the release of ‘Halcyon’, Lauren’s momentum continues to reign as she showcases her ingenious take on electronic music.
