Jean-Michel Jarre, widely regarded as the ‘godfather of electronic music’, will tour North America for the very first time this year.
The tour was confirmed last year and has gained momentum following Jarre’s Grammy nomination for Electronica 1: The Time Machine, a collection of collaborations he did with influential artists (including Pete Townshend, Air, M83 and Moby), and which took nearly four years to complete.
Jarre, who has held numerous records for outdoor concert crowd sizes, is philosophical about the fact that this will be his first US tour. “I would say that rock and roll was born in America and invaded the world. And electronic music was born in Europe and invaded the world.”
