The latest video from Hopelessness features New York City concept artist and feminist Lorraine O’Grady.
ANOHNI recently shared the new music visual from 2016’s HOPELESSNESS. It features O’Grady, who performs ANOHNI’s lyrics about the metaphorical cancer of capitalism that has taken over and Americanised the whole world (“We are all Americans now”).
Anohni released a statement alongside the video, in solidarity with #NoDAPL activists in North Dakota. “Capitalism cares only for wealth extraction, from the earth and from its people,” she wrote. “We are slaughtering the future. Only a wartime effort can save us now. Stand with the Water protectors in North Dakota. Which side you are on? History will remember all of our faces and exactly what each of us did or did not do. As a Native American elder fighting to stop the pipeline said yesterday, there is only one prayer left: save the earth.”
It follows up videos for “I Don’t Love You Anymore,” “Crisis,” “4 Degrees,” “Drone Bomb Me,” and “Hopelessness.”
